Ventr are a band from Portugal that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 ep "Numinous Negativity" which will be released in October by Signal Rex.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while most of the tracks are very long and epic in length. Vocals are mostly tortured black metal screams while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while a small amount of melody is also added into some of the guitar riffing. The songs also add in a good mixture of both old school and modern influences along with one of the tracks being a synth instrumental which is utilized before closing the recording with a heavier track.
Ventr plays a style of black metal that is very raw and traditional sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover the mysteries in the works within the omnipresence of the Devil.
In my opinion Ventr are a very great sounding raw black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Our Altar of Murderous Fanaticism" and "A Dagger to Worship". 8 out of 10.
