Baume are a solo project from France that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays and on this recording moves away from the post black metal style of previous releases and goes for more of an experimental style of post rock and this is a review of his self released 2020 album "Aout Approache" which will be released in October.
Dark soundscapes start off the album while electronic music style programmed beats are also added into some parts of the recording. When synths are utilized they also add in touches of ambient while spoken word parts can also be heard on all of the tracks along with the clean playing also adding in elements of post rock.
At times the music also gets very experimental sounding while some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. When guitar leads are utilized thy are also done in a very melodic style along with some influences of shoegaze and all of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo style.
On this recording Baume moves away from the black metal elements of previous releases, expands on the spoke word parts goes for more of a mixture of experimental, electronic music, post rock and shoegaze. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics are written in French and cover darkness and nature themes.
In my opinion this is another decent sounding recording from Baume and while some black metal fans might not like the new style, I can see this appealing to fans of experimental, electronic music, post rock and shoegaze. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Rien ne Dure" and "Aout Approche". 7/5 out of 10.
