Diatribe are a band from France that plays a very raw and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2021 ep "Odite Sermonis" which was released by Vendetta Records.
Dark soundscapes and guitar tuning starts off the ep before going into a heavier musical direction while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while the tremolo picking also gives the songs more of a raw feeling when it is utilized. Most of the songs also bring in more of a modern style along with the solos and leads being done in a very dark yet melodic style when they are finally introduced into the music as well as one song also being an instrumental and bringing acoustic guitars onto the recording, when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can also be heard.
Diatribe plays a style of black metal that is very raw, modern and atmospheric and mostly mid tempo sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark and hateful themes.
In my opinion Diatribe are a very great sounding raw and atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hate Is The Gift" and "A Crown of Thorne For the Fallen King". 8 out of 10.
