Transyuggoth are a band from Norway that plays a raw mixture of black metal and punk and this is a review of their 2021 album "Through Prayer And Indiscriminate Death" which was released by Screaming Skull Records.
An apocalyptic sounding intro starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams and the music also mixes in elements of punk rock and d beat.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing. The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with one track also adding in session vocals from David Ingram of Benediction.
Some of the music also shows an influence of black'n'roll. When guitar leads are utilized briefly they are also done in a very dark style and as the album progresses a brief use of clean playing can also be heard along with some Gregorian chants also being added on the outro. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in a mixture of English and Norwegian and cover apocalyptic and the darkest realms of the cosmos and beyond.
In my opinion Transyuggoth are a very great sounding raw mixture of black metal and punk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bad Murder Juju" "Suck My Gungnir" "The Great Culling" and "Void Prayer". 8 out of 10.
