Sothh are a solo project from the United States that plays a mixture of raw black metal, dark ambient, drone and noise and this is a review of their self released 2021 ep "Buried In Rotting Stardust".
Guitar oriented drones start off the ep along with some whispers and drum beats a few seconds later while whispers can also be heard briefly. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the music also being dominated by a powerful sounding bass guitars and when synths are utilized they also bring in elements of dark ambient.
Harsh noises can also be heard at times while a couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. In some parts of the recording the music also captures a lo-fi atmosphere along with a brief use of spoken word parts on a couple of tracks as well as some of the music also sounding improvised and the whole ep sticks to a slower direction.
Sothh plays a musical style that takes raw black metal, dark ambient, drone and noise and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very raw and lo-fi while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Sothh are a very great sounding mixture of raw black metal, dark ambient, drone and noise and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Die In Pure Fucking Peace" and "Journey To A Deeper Hell". 8 out of 10.
