Eranthos are a band from Germany that plays a very fast and aggressive mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their self released 2021 ep "Eternal Decay".
Dark sounding melodies start off the album along with some grim yet high pitched black metal screams a few seconds later. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and brutal blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling and the tracks also bring in a great amount of death metal elements.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while one track also brings in a brief use of spoken word samples. All of the music also avoids any use of guitar solos or leads to focus more on a brutal style which also shows an influence of the faster Swedish bands of the late 90's mixed in with the more modern blackened death metal.
Eranthos plays a musical style that takes the fastest and most aggressive styles of black and death metal and mixes them together with a more blackened vocal approach to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover darkness, death and decay themes.
In my opinion Eranthos are a very great sounding fast and aggressive mixture of black and death metal, and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Denial of Life" and "Into The Abyss". 8 out of 10.
