Ildaruni are a band form Armenia that plays a pagan form of black metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Beyond Unseen Gateways" which will be released on March 19th by Black Lion Records.
Epic sounding keyboards start off the album while clean playing can also be heard in some parts of the recording. Spoken word parts and whispers can also be heard briefly along with the tin whistles also bringing in elements of folk music when they are utilized and most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
The heavier riffs also add in a great amount of melody and pagan metal elements while the faster sections of the songs also add in a lot of blast beats. Vocals are a mixture of high pitched black metal screams and deep growls along with some war battle style chants also being utilized at times.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. One of the tracks also introduces clean vocals onto the album as well as a later song also adding in a brief use of bagpipes, when tremolo picking is used in the faster riffing it also gives the music more of a raw feeling. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Ancient Pagan Mysticism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion Ildaruni are a very great sounding pagan black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Treading The Path Of Cryptic Wisdom" "Towards Subterranean Realms" and "Whence Ravenstone Beckons". 8/5 out of 10.
