Ekdikēsis are a solo project from Iceland that plays a very experimental form of black metal and this is a review of his 2020 album "Schizomenous" which was re-issued in 2022 by Onism Productions..
A very fast and raw sound stars off the album along with a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the music also adds in a decent amount of avant garde structures and spoken word parts and samples can also be heard in certain sections of the recording.
At times the music also gets very experimental sounding along with some clean playing also being utilized at times. The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads also being done in a very dark yet melodic style as well as the album also having its dissonant moments, sound effects are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording.
Ekdikēsis plays a style of black metal that is very avant gade, dissonant and experimental sounding. The production sounds very dark and r aw while the lyrics cover space and science themes.
In my opinion Ekdikēsis are a very great sounding avant garde, dissonant and experimental black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Devouring A Deformed Star" "Farewell Starchild" and "Landscapes". 8 out of 10.
