Denial Of Death are a band from Germany that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording goes for more of an old school and atmospheric mixture of black, doom, death and thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2022 album "A Failed Exorcism" which will be released on Halloween.
Orchestral sounds start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast b eats can also b e heard while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Most of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's second wave era while death metal growls can also utilized at times. Elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs at times along with the mid tempo sections also showing an influence of thrash metal as well as the guitar leads also being done in a very melodic and old school style when they are added into the music, operatic female and male vocals, acoustic guitars and spoken word parts can also be heard on a few tracks.
On this recording Denial Of Death take black, doom, death and thrash metal and mix them in with orchestra elements to create a very diverse album. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover occultism, Death and Anti Religion themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Denial of Death and if you are a fan of atmospheric and old school black, doom, death and thrash metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Evil By Nature" "Kill the Clown" "God Is Dead" and "Black Mass". 8 out of 10.
