New Zealand's Exordium Mors has returned with a new recording which continues their fast, raw and brutal mixture of black, death and thrash metal from their previous releases and this is a review of their 2022 album "As Legends Fade And Gods Die" which will be released on Halloween by Praetorian Sword Records.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album along with some bass guitar leads also being utilized briefly. Vocals are a mixture of black emtal screams and death metal growls while the riffs also get very technical sounding at times and the songs also mix in a great amount of thrash metal elements.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in a lot of melody.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic yet technical style along with the songs also mixing in a great amount of 80's and 90's era influences with a more modern day brutality as well as one song also adding in a brief use of shouts and clear singing, some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and the whole recording sticks to a heavier direction. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Ancient Roman paganism, Hellenic Wisdom, Satanism and the writings of Nietzsche.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Exordium Mors and if you are a fan of fast, raw and brutal black, death and thrash metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "I Saw Oblivion" "Surrounded By Serpents" and "Triumphator". 8 out of 10.
