Jordfäst are a duo from Sweden that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a very atmospheric and epic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Av stoft" which will be released in October by Nordvis Produktion.
Nature sounds and chants start off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction. Both of the tracks are also very long and epic in length Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats.
When tremolo picking is utilized they also give the songs more of a r aw feeling while the music also has its atmospheric moments. Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style as well as some clear vocals also being added into certain sections of the recording, synths can also be heard at times and throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and f ast parts.
On this recording Jordfäst remains true to the epic and atmospheric style of black metal t hat they had established on their previous release. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Swedish and cover human struggles against societal norms and religious oppression.
On my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Jordfast and if you are a f an of epic and atmospheric black metal, you should check oout this album. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Kom eld, kom regn". 8 out of 10.
