The Loom Of Time are a band from Australia that h as been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays a mixture of black, doom and death metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Grand False Karass" which will b e released on September 30th by ATMF.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal s creams while death metal growls are also utilized at times and elements of doom metal are also added into the slower sections of the songs at times.
When synths are utilized they also give the music more of an atmospheric feeling while acoustic guitars are also added on some of the tracks. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with some clear vocals also being added into certain sections of the recording.
The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in a great amount of melody. The music also has its avant garde moments along with some tracks also adding in a small amount of acoustic guitars as well as some song also introducing female vocals onto the album, whispers can also be heard briefly and one song also adds in a small amount of saxophones. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover human axiomatic beliefs and nihilism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from The Loom Of Time and if you are a f an of black, doom and death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Depths Of Hell Itself" "The Age of Expansionism" and "The Slightest of Deaths". 8 out of 10.
