Afriqve are a solo project from Sweden that plays a very depressive form of post black metal and this is a review of his 2020 album "Ashes Of A Dream" which was released by Anthrazit Records.
Tragic sounding keyboards start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Clean playing can also be heard on all of the tracks while the vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams and most of the songs are also very long and epic in length.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of blast beats. Spoken word parts can also be heard on a couple of tracks along with the music also adding in a great amount of post rock elements.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with some clear vocals also being utilized briefly and most of the tracks sticks to a slower direction with only a small amount of mid tempo and fast parts. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics dreams and depression themes.
In my opinion Afriqve are a very great sounding depressive post black metal solo project and if you are a fan of t his musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Empty" and "Ashes of A Dream". 8 out of 10.
