Zustand Null are a band from Norway that plays a dissonant and progressive mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2023 album Beyond The Limit Of Sanity" which was released by Dusktone.
A very dark, heavy and dissonant sound starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the riffs also adding in a small amount of melody and some of the riffing also shows an influence of thrash metal.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style. Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with some death metal growls also being utilized at times as well as all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them, at times the music also gets very progressive sounding and the whole album also sticks to a heavier direction.
Zustand Null plays a musical style that takes the dissonant and progressive styles of black and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover inanity, limbo and state of consciousness themes.
In my opinion Zustand Null are a very great sounding dissonant and progressive mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Existence Nihil" "At The Limit Of Sanity" and "Parosomnia". 8 out of 10.
