Leper Angel are a duo from the United Kingdom that plays a very cold form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2021 ep "Pest".
Epic sounding synths start off the ep and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the song at times. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and the music is also very heavily rooted in the early 2000's era.
All of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction while most the riffs are also all done on power chords while one song adds in a brief use of melodic riffing. When guitar solos and leads are finally introduced onto the recording they are also done in a very melodic style and when the music finally speeds up a small amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling.
Leper Angel plays a style of black metal that is very cold and mostly mid tempo sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover occultism, death, darkness and coldness themes.
In my opinion Leper Angel are a very great sounding cold black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Vow" and "Leper Angel". 8 out of 10.
