Perpetual Dawn are a duo that plays a folk inspired form of atmospheric black metal and this is a review of his self titled 2023 album which was released by Earth And Sky Productions.
Clean playing starts off the album while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with along with the vocals bringing in more of a whispering style of black metal and the riffs also ad in a decent amount of melody.
At times the album also gets very atmospheric sounding while the recording also adds in a great amount of folk music influences. When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling as well as some psychedelic touches also being added on a few tracks and you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Perpetual Dawn plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric sounding as well as adding in some touches of psychedelic and folk music to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover melancholy, dreams, nature and life narrative themes.
In my opinion Perpetual Dawn are a very great sounding folk inspired atmospheric black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Mushroom Gully" "Portrait of An Omen" "The Blue Lake" and "Sense of Fate". 8 out of 10.
