Morcaint are a duo from Sweden that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 ep "Elessar" which was released by Nordvis Produktion.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the ep and also mix in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams and when t he music speeds up a decent amount of blast b eats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is added into the faster riffing they also give the music more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in a good amount of melody and the songs also mix in a lot of 90's era influences mixed in with a more modern style, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly.
Morciant plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric and epic sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the writings of J.R.R Tolkien from the Lord of The Rings Universe.
In my opinion Morciant are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genres, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Elessar". 8 out of 10.
