Ekelhaft are a band from Denver, Colorado that plays a very raw and satanic form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2016 ep "Blood Moon's Curse".
A very dark and ritualistic sound starts off the ep along with some spoken word parts before going into a very fast and raw black metal direction that also uses a great amount of brutal blast beats and tremolo picking while the vocals are done mostly in a high pitched style of screaming and the riffs also bring in a small amount of dark sounding melodies.
Some of the riffs have a small amount of death metal influences in them and the songs also bring in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the songs are also more rooted in the old school style of black metal and one the 3rd track while on the last song a few seconds of clean playing is brought into the music 7before returning back to a heavier direction,
Ekelhaft plays a style of black metal that is very raw, heavy and aggressive while also having a very ritual and hateful atmosphere to them, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness, anti cosmic Satanism and anti Abrahamic themes.
In my opinion Ekelhaft are a very great sounding raw and satanic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Blood Moon's Curse" and "To Salt The Earth". 8 out of 10.
