Vukari are a band from Chicago, Illinois that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Divination" which was released by Bindrune Recordings.
A very dark and droning sound starts off the album along with some atmospheric elements and after awhile the music speeds up and brings in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats along with some high pitched screams and they also mix the atmospheric and heavy parts together while the solos and leads are very dark and melodic.
Throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a small amount of deep growls and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and clean playing can also be heard in the music at times and it also brings in a touch of post rock while the main focus remains more on a raw and melodic style.
Vukari plays a style of black metal that is very modern, raw and atmospheric sounding, the production sounds very raw yet heavy at the same time while the lyrics cover death and conceptual stories themes.
In my opinion Vukari are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Divination II" "Invictus Maneo" and "Bathe In The Divine Light". 8 out of 10.
