Piarevaracien are a band from Belarus that plays a pagan form of black metal with some elements of folk music and this is a review of their 2011 album "If No Sun" which was released by Crush The Desert Records.
Acoustic guitars along with soem heavy yet melodic riffs start off the album along with some folk instruments and clean singing pagan vocals a few seconds later and a few seconds later melodic guitar leads make their presence known on the recording along with the vocals getting more aggressive.
All of the musical instruments on the recording h ave a very powerful to them and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard and the songs also bring in a great amount of grim black metal screams and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and some of t he fast riffs also bring in a decent amount of tremolo picking which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling while the acoustic parts gives the songs more of a medieval folk atmosphere and a couple of tracks also brings in a brief use of spoken word parts.
Piarevaracien plays a style of pagan black metal that is very raw, epic and melodic while also mixing in a great amount of folk music elements which also gives the songs more of a dark ages feeling, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Paganism, Patriotism and nature themes.
In my opinion Piarevaracien are a very great sounding pagan/black metal band with elements of folk music and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Rise Up!" "Blessed My Europe" "Missing The Sun" and "Black Candles Song". 8 out of 10.
