Victim Path are a band from Belarus that plays a very depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Surrounded By Pain" which was released by Possession Productions.
Dark sound effects start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction where you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and the vocals are done in a depressive black metal style while the guitar playing also brings in a great amount of melodic riffing.
You can also hear a great amount of melody in the solos and leads while clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats along with tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw black metal feeling and throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the songs also start mixing in more of an old school vibe as the album progresses and they close the album with a cover of Grob's "Optimizm".
Victim Path plays a musical style that takes a very guitar driven style of depressive black metal and mixes it in with the more raw style of the genre which really makes the songs stand out a bit more, the production sounds very raw yet heavy at the same time while the lyrics cover depression, suicide, pain and death themes.
In my opinion Victim Path are a very great sounding depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Impulsive Of A Person" "Black Abyss" and "Torment Mankind". 8 out of 10.
