Strafk are a duo from Russia that plays a mixture of experimental, doom, and post black metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "Entomophobia" which was released by Wraith Productions.
Fly sounds start off the ep along with some ambient, avant garde and experimental sounds that also takes the recording into more of a haunting direction and a few seconds clean playing is added onto the recording along with some ethnic music elements and after awhile heavy guitars make their presence known.
Vocals are mostly deep yet grim black metal screams while the first track is very long and epic in length and you can also hear elements of doom metal in the slower riffing and the riffs and leads also bring in a great amount of post metal style melodies and both of the songs stick to either a slow or mid paced musical direction.
Strafk plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in post black metal while also mixing in elements of doom metal and experimental to create a style of their own, the production sounds very dark, raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Russian and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Strafk are a very great sounding mixture of experimental, doom and post black metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Fear'. 8 out of 10.
