Aldaaron/Arcane Mountain Cult/Paragon Records/2022 Full Length Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  France's  Aldaaron  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  harsh  style  of  pagan  black  metal  and  the  album  will b e  released  in  November  of  2022  and  is  called  "Arcane  Mountain  Cult".

  The  sounds  of  winter  and  synths  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  melodic  and  heavier  musical  direction,  The  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  old  school  influences  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  lot  of  blast b eats  can b e  heard.

  When  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  they  also  give  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  vocals  also  have  their  deeper  moments.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  music  also having  its  atmospheric  moments  and  synths  also  mix  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times. 

  A  couple   of   the  tracks are also  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  some  acoustic  guitars  and clean  playing  also  being  added  on  a  couple  of  tracks,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Paganism,  Mythology, Philosophy,  Fantasy  and  Winter  themes.

  In  my  opinion   this  is   another  great  sounding  recording  from  Aldaaron  and  if  you  are  a  fan of  pagan  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS INCLUDE   "Pride  And  Sorrow"  and  "Adorned  With  Frost".  8  out  of  10.
