Galicia are a band from Whittier, California that plays a bestial and melodic mixture of war, black, dark and death metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Precipice" which will be released on October 21st by Hessian Firm.
A very heavy, melodic and aggressive sound starts off the album while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they also add in a lot of melody along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a great amount of blast beats and war metal elements.
Bestial growls can also be heard at times while the fast tremolo picking also gives the music more of a raw feeling when it is utilized. The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the slower sections of the songs also showing influences of doom and dark metal, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly as well as some of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
Galicia plays a musical style that takes war and bestial black/death metal and mixes it with melodic dark metal to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Galicia are a very great sounding bestial and melodic mixture of war, black, dark and death metal and if you are looking for something that is different, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Retracted The Nonsubmerged" and "No Phoenix Will Rise". 8 out of 10.
