Noctem are a band from Spain that plays a very fast, aggressive and melodic mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Credo Certe Ne Cras" which will be released on October 26th by MNRK Heavy.
Clean playing start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction while a couple of the tracks are long and epic in length. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with the riffs also adding in a great amount of melody and the vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams.
When the music speeds up a lot of blast beats can also be heard while choir style chants can also be heard briefly. Death metal elements and spoken word parts are also added into certain sections of the recording along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When tremolo picking is added into the faster riffing they also give the music more of a raw feeling along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style when they are introduced into the music, clean playing also makes a return on a couple of the later tracks as well as a couple of songs also adding in a brief use of female vocals and acoustic guitars. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Ancient Civilizations, Misanthropy and Anti Religion themes.
In my opinion Noctem are a very great sounding aggressive and melodic mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "I Am Alpha" "Homilis Of Punishment" "The Toiling Of the Nine Bells" and "We Are omega". 8 out of 10.
