Ter are a solo project from Spain that plays a folk influenced form of atmospheric black metal and this is a review of his self released 2022 ep "Homeward Bound".
Fire burning and animal sounds start off the ep along with some marching and accordions a few seconds later while acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly before going into a heavier direction. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing and all of t he musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Clear pagan vocals can also be heard on a few tracks while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Grim yet high pitched black metal screams are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording along with some synths also being utilized at times as well as one song also adding in a brief use of spoken word parts.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with the music also mixing in a great amount of folk elements and the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover nature themes.
In my opinion Ter are a very great sounding folk influenced atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Homeward Bound" and "Old Land". 8 out of 10.
