Bipolar Architecture are an international band with members from Germany and Turkey that plays a very progressive form of post black metal with elements of blackgaze and djent and this is a review of their 2022 album "Depressionland" which was released by Talheim Records.
A very dark yet atmospheric sound starts off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. The riffs also add in a great amount of melody along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic post metal style and the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
Influences of djent are also added into the mid tempo sections of the songs while the music also adds in a great amount of post rock and shoegaze elements. When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard and a great portion of the tracks are also long and epic in length.
Clean playing can also b e heard quite a bit throughout the recording along with the music also having its progressive moments as well as the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, tremolo picking is also added into some of the faster riffing and they also bring an instrumental track. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover depression, melancholy, emotional, dystopian and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Bipolar Architecture are a very great sounding progressive mixture of post black metal, blackgaze and djent and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Depressionland" "Dystopia Is The Reality" and "Papercuts". 8 out of 10.
