Funeral Oppression are a duo from Russia that plays a very atmospheric and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "The Eternal Revival" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Records and More Hate Productions.
A synth orientated intro along with some rain and thunder sounds start off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic direction. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly grim yet depressive black metal screams.
Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Clear vocals can also be heard on some of the tracks along with the music also having its atmospheric moments as well as some tracks also adding in a small amount of clean playing and when the music finally speeds up a small amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats can be heard which also gives the album more of raw feeling.
Funeral Oppression plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric and depressive sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover death, madness, nihilism and void themes.
In my opinion Funeral Oppression are a very great sounding atmospheric and depressive black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Just To Live" and "For All Those Gone". 8 out of 10.
