Unfyros are a duo from Finland that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays an old school and mid tempo form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Alpha Hunt" which was released by Aural Hypnox.
Dark soundscapes start off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and the music also adds in a great amount of old school influences.
Some of t he tracks are also very long and epic in length while the music sticks to mostly a slow or mid tempo direction. Some of the riffing also shows an influence of traditional metal along with the riffs also adding in some more modern dissonant touches at times synths can also b e heard in the background briefly.
On this recording Unfyros brings in more of an old school and mid tempo style of black metal with some dissonant and traditional metal touches. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness and nature themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Unfyros and if you are a fan of old school and mid tempo black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Dagger Within" and "Onyxian (Abyss-Mother)". 8 out of 10.
