Euphrosyne are a band from Greece that plays a melodic mixture of post black and doom metal and this is a review of their self released 2022 ep "Keres" which will b e released in November.
Post rock style clean playing and synths start off the ep along with a brief use of saxophones before going into more of a heavier, melodic and atmospheric musical direction. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while t he slower sections of the songs also bring in elements of doom metal.
A couple of the tracks are also long and epic in length while orchestral sound are also mixed in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Clear female vocals are also a very huge part of the recording along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in some tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style and throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, spoken word parts can also be heard at times as well as one song being an instrumental and adds in a brief use of acoustic guitars. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover depression and isolation themes.
In my opinion Euphrosyne are a very great sounding melo9dic mixture of post black and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Pale Days" and "Within The Ages". 8 out of 10.
