This is a review of another album from Cryostasium which is in more of a depressive and ambient style of black metal this time around with the album being released in 2013 by Satanath Reords and called "Alternative Funeral".
Drum beats start off the album along with some melodic riffing and ambient style synths and after a minute depressive black metal screams are added into the music and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with a great majority of the tracks being very long and epic in length.
When solos and leads are utilized they are very distorted and melodic sounding and the synths also bring in a very haunting atmosphere at times and some songs also bring in psychedelic elements and there are also a great amount of instrumental tracks present throughout the recording and most of the songs stick to a very slow yet dark musical direction while their is a brief use of fast riffing which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
With this recording Cryostasium played more of an ambient style of black metal that also has its depressive moments while also getting very experimental and psychedelic at times and the production has a very dark and raw sound to it.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Cryostasium and if you are a fan of ambient black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Winter" "Recluse" and "5/13". 8 out of 10.
