Ghost Horizon are a duo from Arizona that plays a very melodic and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of t heir self released 2016 ep "Astral Possession" which will be released in February.
Atmospheric sounds start off the ep along with some clean guitars a few seconds later as well as some spoken word samples and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and after awhile the music gets more heavy and melodic along with some high pitched black metal screams.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard and clean singing can also be heard at times and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when solos and leads are utilized they are done in a melodic style and also gives the songs a cascadian feeling and you can also hear keyboards at times and they give the music more of a tragic post rock feeling while the vocals also get deep on some parts of the recording and there is also a brief use of spoken word parts.
Ghost Horizon plays a style of black metal that is very modern, atmospheric and melodic and also adds in a touch of post rock, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover metaphysical themes.
In my opinion Ghost Horizon are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Spectral Threnody". 8 out of 10.
