Avitas are a solo project from British Columbia, Canada that has been featured before that plays a national socialist form of occult black metal with psychedelic elements and this is a review of his 2016 album "Pioneers" which will be released by Bud Metal Records.
A very raw black metal sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats and grim screams and the riffs also utilize a great amount of morbid sounding melodies and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and a good portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
When solos and leads are brought into the music they are very raw and melodic and the music also gets atmospheric at times and when spoken words are added into the music they give the songs more of a ritualistic feeling while some of the slower riffs bring in influence of doom metal
and as the album progresses acoustic guitars and psychedelic elements are added into certain sections of the recording and there is also a cover of Ministry's "N.W.O".
Avitas plays a style of black metal on this recording that is very raw while still having an atmospheric and psychedelic edge in some of the songs, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Occultism, Satanism, Paganism, National Socialism and Anti Islam themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Avitas and if you are a fan of national socialist and occult black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Magickal Rites From Aryan Tomes" "Islamic State Of Death" and "Midnight Bonfires To The Lunar Eclipse". 8 out of 10.
