Temple Of Evil are a band from Cyprus that plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "The 7th Awakening" which was released by Deathhammer Records.
A very dark and ritualistic sound starts off the album along with some melodic chants and evil keyboards and after the intro the music goes into a very fast and raw black metal direction that also uses a great amount of blast beats and grim screams and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Melodies can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording and clean singing can also be heard at times and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the solos and leads are also done in a dark and melodic style and when spoken word parts are utilized they give the music more of an occult atmosphere.
Clean playing can be heard in some songs and a few of the tracks are a very long and epic in length and ritualistic sounds also make a return in certain sections of the recording and as the album progresses the music gets more epic and atmospheric and some riffs also bring in a small amount of death metal influences and there is also a brief use of classical guitars on some of the songs while the last track introduces violins onto the recording.
Temple Of Evil plays a style of occult black metal that is very raw and melodic sounding while also being very ritualistic at the same time, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover Esotericism, Occultism, Left Hand Path and Necromancy themes.
In my opinion Temple Of Evil are a very great sounding occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "...On Devil's Wings" "The Book Of Shadows" and "The 7th Awakening". 8 out of 10.
