Cave Dweller are a solo project from the United Kingdom that plays a mixture of black, doom and death metal with touches of ambient and noise and this is a review of his 2015 album "Chaos Part I:The Night Mare" which was released by Blackwood Productions.
Water drop noises start off the album along with some heavy and melodic guitars a few seconds and after a minute grim black metal screams make their presence known on the recording which also leads to the music speeding up and also introducing blast beats and death metal growls onto the recording.
Synths can be heard in some parts of the songs and when solos and leads are utilized they are very dark and melodic sounding and throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a great portion of the tracks being very long and epic in length.
At times the vocals can be very depressive and high pitched and some of the tracks are instrumental and you can also hear the atmosphere of ambient also being mixed in with black metal at times and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard while some riffs also bring in the darkness of 90's doom metal along with growls being utilized in certain sections of the recording and the last track also brings in more of a raw side of black metal.
Cave Dweller plays a style that is mostly rooted in black metal while also mixing in a bit of the 90's doom/death metal sound as well as a touch of ambient and noise, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Cave Dweller are a very great sounding mixture of black metal and doom/death with a touch of ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Interrupt" "Lost In The Murk" and "The Night Mare". 8 out of 10.
