Astral Spectre are a solo project from Germany that plays a mixture of black, heavy metal and occult rock and this is a review of his self released 2022 album "Phantom Nightmare" which will be released in June.
A 70's influenced sound starts off the album along with some grim black metal screams a few seconds later. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a psychedelic/hard rock style while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody.
Keyboards can also be heard at times while the music also adds in a great amount of traditional metal elements Clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the album along with one of the tracks also being a power ballad which also introduces flutes onto the recording and all of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction.
Astral Spectre plays a musical style that takes black, heavy metal and 70's era occult rock and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover Occultism themes.
In my opinion Astral Spectre are a very great sounding mixture of black, heavy metal and occult rock and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Astrology" and "Phantom Nightmare". 8 out of 10.
