Sacrilegious Crown are a solo project from Italy that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a raw mixture of black and doom metal with some elements of dark ambient and this is a review of his 2022 ep "Forbidden Vestiges Of Veneration" which will b e released in June by Xenoglossy Productions.
Dark ambient soundscapes and synths start off the ep which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the music while the riffs also add in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies and the vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark yet melodic style while the music also has its raw and atmospheric moments and all of the music also sticks to a slower direction.
On this recording Sacrilegious Crown goes for more of a raw mixture of black and doom metal as well as keeping the ambient elements of his previous release to create something very different,. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are a concept album based upon Occultism, Forbidden and Forgotten Religious Cults.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Sacrilegious Crown and if you are a fan of raw and ambient black and doom metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hypogeodesic Procession" and "Hermetic Vortex". 8 out of 10.
