Dark Archive are a band from Finland that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording goes for more of a satanic and occult mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Reunite The Darkness" which will b e released on May 20th by Inverse Records.
Tragic sounding pianos start off the album along with a brief use of acoustic guitars a few seconds later before going into a heavier direction. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the vocals are a mixture of high pitched black metal screams and death metal growls.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style. Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly on a couple of tracks as well as the acoustic guitars also making a brief return on a later song and as the album progresses a small amount of clear vocals and classical guitars are also utilized. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Dark Archive and if you are a fan of occult and satanic black and death metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Godfear Eradication" "Aspect Of Freedom" "Morningstar" and "Son Of Blight". 8 out of 10.
