Predatory Light are a band from the United States that plays a very dark mixture of black, and doom metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Death And The Twilight Hours" which will be released on May 20th by 20 Buck Spin.
Organs start off the album and also bring in the atmosphere of a horror movie soundtrack as well as mixing in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark yet melodic style while all of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
The riffs also add in a great amount of melody while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams along with the slower sections of the songs also adding in elements of doom metal and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding along with some songs also adding in a small amount of clean playing and classical guitars as well as the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics death themes and the Athenian Plague inspired by the records of Lucretius.
In my opinion Predatory Light are a very great sounding dark mixture of black and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Three Living And The Three Dead" and "To Plead Like Angels". 8 out of 10.
