Hats Barn are a band from France that plays a very fast and aggressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Y.a.HW.e.H" which will be released in June by Osmose Productions.
Ritualistic soundscapes start off the album along with some epic sounding synths a few seconds later before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also adds in a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking. Vocals are mostly grim y et high pitched black metal screams and all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the music also adds in a great amount of old school influences as well as remaining very modern at the same time. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the music also mixing in influences from both the classic Swedish and French eras of the genre.
Battle sounds can also be heard briefly along with the synths also making a return in certain sections of the recording, as the album progresses a brief use of clean vocals and Gregorian chants can also be heard. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in a mixture of French and English and cover Occultism, Devil Worship and War themes.
In my opinion Hats Barn are a very great sounding fast and aggressive black metal b and and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "BAAAL-ZEBUB" "Under The Pillars Of Daath" "Walpurgis Of Seth" and "The Man Returns To Dust". 8 out of 10.
