Lord Of Horns are a solo project from New Jersey that plays an old school form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2022 demo "Few Ever Survive The Night...".
Aggressive sounding drums start off the demo along with some heavy riffing and horror movie style synths a few seconds later. When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling and the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
Dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while clean playing can also be heard briefly. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a couple of the tracks also being long and epic in length and the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's second wave era as well as the spoken word parts also giving the demo more of a ritualistic feeling when they are utilized.
Lord Of Horns plays a musical style that takes second wave black metal and horror soundtrack music and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover horror and dark fantasy themes.
In my opinion Lord Of Horns are a very great sounding horror orientated old school black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Ritual Hunt". 8 out of 10.
