Black Void are a band from Norway that plays a very aggressive mixture of black metal and punk and this is a review of their 2022 album "Antithesis" which will be released on May 27th by Nuclear Blast Records.
A very heavy and aggressive punk influenced sound starts off the album while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with some songs also adding in clear vocals and clean playing and all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them.
Angry shouts can also be heard at times while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
At times the music also brings in elements of black'n'roll along with one of the songs also introducing keyboards onto the recording. as well as a couple of songs also adding in vocals from embers of Taake and Rotting Christ. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are based upon the writings of Nietzsche and Camus and nihilism themes.
In my opinion Black Void are a very great sounding aggressive mixture of black metal and punk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Void" "Tenebrism Of Life" "Explode Into Nothingness" and "Dadaist Disgust". 8 out of 10.
