Tableau Mort are a band from the United Kingdom that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays a very atmospheric and dissonant form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Visio In Somniis" which was released by Cult of Parthenope.
A very dark yet ritualistic sound starts off the album which also introduces keyboards onto the recording that also mix in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while also adding in a decent amount of dissonant structures and the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style. When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling and death metal growls are also added into some parts of the recording.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the music also having its technical moments as well as the blast beats also giving the songs more of a brutal edge, Gregorian chants and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the dark side of Orthodox Christianity.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Tableau Mort and if you are a fan of atmospheric and dissonant black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Metmosphosis" "Hope Ablaze" and "Candle in The Darkness". 8 out of 10.
