Russia's Bloodrain have returned with a new recording which shows the music going for a satanic and old school style of black metal with elements of thrash metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Bloodrain VI: Resurgam" which will be released on May 26th by Ketzer Records.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album while also adding in a brief use of keyboards before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as some of the riffing also showing an influence of thrash metal and the second wave era and the album also closes with a Von cover.
On this recording Bloodrain introduces elements of thrash metal into their satanic style of black metal to create something very different from their previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Darkness, Horror and Anti Religion themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Bloodrain and if you are a fan of satanic black and thrash metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A Dream of A Lifetime" "World of Dr Moreau" "Night Stalker" and "Von". 8 out of 10.
