Gorr are a duo from Norway that plays a Norwegian style of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2021 album "Kvlt Snoen, Kald I Blikket" which will be released in March.
Clean playing starts off the album along with some grim yet high pitched black metal screams a few seconds later. On the second track the music also goes into a heavier direction while the tremolo picking also gives the music more of a raw feeling when it is utilized and clean playing also returns on later tracks.
The songs also add in a decent mixture of both old school and modern influences while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. On one of the tracks the riffing also shows an influence of death metal as well of the album sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction and when the music finally speeds up a small amount of blast beats can also be heard.
Gorr plays a style of Norwegian black metal that sticks mostyl to a slow or mid tempo direction as well as maintaining a very raw approach to the genre. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Norwegian and cover Legends and Nature themes.
In my opinion Gorr are a very decent sounding Norwegian black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bitande Kalt" and "Ditt Uendelege Raseri". 7 out of 10.
