Sacrilegious Crown are a solo project from Italy that plays a very raw form of ambient occult black metal and this is a review of their 2021 ep "Plenilunium Cult" which will be released in March by Xenoglossy Productions.
Ambient style soundscapes start off the ep before going into more of a heavier and lo-fi musical direction. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark yet melodic style while the vocals are mostly high pitched yet tortured black metal screams that are also mixed down low in the mix.
The music also captures a very haunting and nightmarish orientated atmosphere while all of the drum beats and also programmed. When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with some distorted sounding melodies also being utilized briefly as well as some synths and melodic chants also being utilized briefly.
all of the music also sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction and the closing song is a dark ambient instrumental which also adds in a small amount of church organs as well as being very long and epic in length. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Esotericism, Rituals and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Sacrilegious Crown are a very great sounding raw and lo-fi ambient occult black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Tremendous Invocation" and "Unorthodox Devotion". 8 out of 10.
