Hænesy are a band from Hungary that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Garabontzia" which will be released on February 28th by Purity Through Fire.
Atmospheric sounding keyboards start off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the music also adds in a great amount of post metal style melodies.
Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the songs also add in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Clean playing and acoustic guitars can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them as well as one of the songs also introducing spoken word parts onto the album, later songs also bring in ambient elements.
Hænesy plays a style of post black metal that is very atmospheric and has more raw aggression than most bands of this genre as well as having a musical as well as bringing back a 2005 to 2006 era style but keeping it modern at the same time. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Hænesy are a very great sounding atmospheric post black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Fate Of The Depth" "Drowning Of The Final Intellect" and "Asphyxia". 8 out of 10.
