Poland's UR have returned with a new recording which continues their mixture of black and heavy metal from their previous releases and this is a review of their 2020 ep "Obelga" which was released by Old Temple.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the ep while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Vocals are mostyl high pitched black metal screams while the music also incorporated elements of traditional metal.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Clean vocals can also be heard at times along with some acoustic guitars also being utilized briefly and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style, melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly.
On this recording UR remain true to the raw style of blackened heavy metal that they had established on previous releases. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Polish and cover death themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from UR and if you are a fan of raw black and blackened heavy metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Obelga" and "Nie zmartwychwstaniemy". 8 out of 10.
