Serpent Throne are a band from Chile that plays a satanic and blasphemous mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Beyond the Chains Of Decadence" which was released by Australis Records.
A battle orientated intro starts off the album along with some choirs and orchestra sounds before going into a heavier direction. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the riffing.
The songs also add in a decent amount of 80's and 90's black and death metal influences but keeps it modern at the same time. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads being done in a very dark yet melodic style.
Tremolo picking can also be heard in some of the faster riffing and also gives the music more of a raw feeling when it is utilized as well as the solos and leads also bringing in more of an old school extreme metal style at times, one of the tracks also introduces clean playing onto the album and a later song is also an instrumental. Clean singing and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover death, darkness, evil, Anti Christianity, blasphemy and satanic themes.
In my opinion Serpent Throne are a very great sounding satanic and blasphemous mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Beyond The Chains Of Decadence" "Where Evil Prevails" and "Ancient Sorcery". 8 out of 10.
