United Kingdom's solo project Morally Deformed has returned with a new recording which continues the totalitarian style of black metal from his previous releases and this is a review of his self released 2023 ep "Reds part 1 (Political Power Grows Out Of A Barrel of A Gun)".
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the ep while all of t he musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched sounding black metal screams along with the slower sections of the songs also bringing in elements of doom metal.
Synths and apocalyptic sounding spoken word parts can also be heard briefly while one song also brings in a brief use of World War era music samples . Some of the mid tempo sections also show an influence of the old school eta along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style when they are utilized, touches of industrial can also be heard at times and a couple of the tracks are also instrumentals and on the closing track a small amount of choirs, fast playing and blast beats are also introduced onto the recording.
On this recording Morally Deformed expands on his totalitarian form of black metal. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover war, politics and darkness themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Morally Deformed and if you are a fan of totalitarian black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "I hear Everything i See Everything" and "King Of The Morning Star". 8 out of 10.
